"Join Hands" by The Mason Rack Band (Blues Artist from Australia)

"Join Hands" by The Mason Rack Band is a tremendous bluesy folk rock CD with a modern consciousness. The songs rely on simplicity in the arrangements to effectively allow Mason's wonderful vocals to take center stage. His rich, intimate, and breathy at times delivery reminds us of Ben Harper and has a very enjoyable quality that made us want to keep coming back to this CD to listen again and again. The songwriting on the CD is excellent as well, with relevant lyrics and memorable choruses. Highlights include the title track "Join Hands," which encompasses everything about the band's sound and features some creative lyrics. "Dust" gets extra bluesy with the vocals and some nice guitar progressions. "Friends" wraps things up in a big way with screeching vocals and an intense build. If you enjoy modern singer songwriters such as Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, you'll love this outstanding CD.

"The Colours of Blues" by Papasean Johnson (Blues Artist from Canada)

"The Colours of Blues" by Papasean Johnson is a swinging bar room blues album. Papasean's voice definitely has that "Old Soul" blues quality and is complemented well by his crafty guitar work and polished tone. Can't help but think of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan while listening to this one. Highlights are "Another Day," which rolls nicely, has some clever changes and features some slick steel guitar work."Sometimes I Wonder" takes you right down to the swamp with twangy rolling guitar and throaty vocals. "Jezebel" is a foot tapper with a tight little drum beat and a cool riff. If you like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Johnson or Eric Clapton give this CD a try.

“Chicken Gumbo” by Lex & Joe (Blues Artist from Maine(ME))

"Chicken Gumbo" by Lex & Joe is a nicely spiced bowl of blues delight. Lyrically clever and witty, this CD has a way of leaving a deeply etched impression. "Memphis Women and Chicken" is a groovy and humorous tune that flaunts some soulful saxophone runs. Moreover, the vocals on this CD deliver the best mix of sass, attitude, and humor. Adding to the diverse nature of this album is the inclusion of some pleasantly redone cover tracks. Furthermore, the musicianship on "Ophelia" really steals the limelight. Wrapped in top notched production, "Chicken Gumbo" is as delicious as it sounds.
